The Highland baseball team reaped the benefits of being conference champs as eight players were named to the all conference teams for the Southeast Iowa Super Conference.

With Kelsey Hora winning the player of the year on the softball side, Chase Rath completed the Huskie sweep of the award as he was named the same for baseball. The senior was one of the most complete two-way players in the state. At the plate he racked up a .494 batting average for second best in the conference and knocked in 32 runs on the season. On the bump, he was just as dominating with a league leading 1.17 ERA in 53 innings of work.

Bill Burton and Garrett Colbert received first team honors. Burton was second in team batting average with .415 and had 25 runs batted in. The speedy senior stole a team best 28 bases and was only caught stealing twice. Colbert had a .387 batting average and knocked in 12 runs.

The Huskies managed a trio of players on the second team ballot. Sophomore Brody Burton added depth to the rotation as he had a 3.23 ERA in 34 innings. Josh Michel had a .359 batting average with 23 RBI and Jake Wood had a .310 and led the team in runs scored with 28.

Honorable mentions went to Jarad Schnoebelen with a .333 batting average and Trent Lasek with .267.

Rounding out the postseason awards for the Huskies was head coach Seth Milledge being named conference coach of the year.

Highland won the conference with a 21-5 record and will look to reload as they lose seven of their eight all conference selections to graduation.
