With a successful 20-win season in the books for the Washington softball team, they were rewarded with many recipients receiving All-Southeast Conference honors.

Representing the first team was the lone senior Jessie Buchholz and junior Morgan Brinning. This marks the second straight year the pair have received all-conference honors with Buchholz receiving second team and Brinning with honorable mention a year ago. In the leadoff spot Buchholz was critical to the Demon’s success as she racked up a team high in hits with 55 and batting average in .426. Brinning showed range defensively over at the shortstop position and caused havoc with opposing pitchers, managing a .500 on base percentage at the plate.

Receiving second team honors were Kaitlyn Mitchell and Molly Sparks. Mitchell finished her impressive freshman campaign with a .321 batting average and 26 RBI. Sparks was at times unhittable in the circle for the Demons as she capped off her sophomore season with a 3.15 ERA in 153 innings.

Honorable mention went to Junior’s Megan Mitchell posting a .314 BA and Brooke Stout with a .317. Buchholz, Brinning, Megan Mitchell, and Stout also managed academic all-conference honors.

The Demons finished the year with a nine game improvement from a year ago with a record of 21-18 and only lose Buchholz to graduation.
