A trip to the class 4A regional final is on the line for the Demon (21-17) softball team as they travel to Oskaloosa (27-12) tonight for the semifinal round.

It’s the rubber match for these two evenly matched squads as they met up earlier in the season splitting a doubleheader in Oskaloosa. Pitching was the name of the game in those outings as there was a combined 11 runs on the day. The Demons have been hot as of late, winners of their last four contests including advancing to the semifinal round after a 7-2 win against Central DeWitt on Thursday. Molly Sparks has been a huge reason for the recent success, as she has not allowed more than three earned runs in her last three appearances in the circle. Timely hits have been huge for the Demons during their win streak, headlined by the dynamic trio of the Mitchell sisters. Kaitlyn had a big walk-off hit last week followed by Megan and Alexa each having clutch two-RBI hits on Thursday.

Oskaloosa had a bye to the semifinals and have been a streaky team all season, claiming two different win streaks of at least six games. The Indians are led at the plate by Taylor Wills, posting a .412 BA with 26 RBI on the year. The Demon offense will need to be at their best as they face off with Alexis Groet, who claims a 1.74 ERA in 173 innings of work.

The season for both squads is on the line at 7 p.m. tonight at Oskaloosa High School. KCII will give you all the coverage starting at 6:30 p.m. for the Washington HyVee pregame show.
