A streaky offense combined with a dominating Collin Zear on the mound allowed the Washington baseball team to kick off their postseason run in grand fashion defeating Williamsburg 8-2 on Friday night.

The Demons looked like a team that was eager to erase a four game losing streak to end the regular season as they jumped on the Raiders early plating four runs in the second inning. Luke Turner got the ball rolling with a single and then the scoring got started with a RBI double off the bat of Kiowa Kieth. After a pair of walks to score another tally, Zach Londberg got in on the action with a two RBI single. Londberg later had another RBI single to break things open in the sixth as the Demons cruised to the 8-2 win. That was more than enough offense needed for Zear, as he had his best stuff working going all seven innings giving up no earned runs on three hits and six strikeouts. In two starts, Zear has had the Raiders number this season, posting 12 innings without giving up an earned run on just six hits and 15 strikeouts. Londberg finished the night going 2-for-3 with three RBI to lead the offense. Bryce Craff added a hit and RBI for the Demons.

Williamsburg finished their season with a record of 8-29. With the win the Demons move to 18-15 on the year and advance to the class 3A district final on Monday night as they will face Davenport Assumption (35-5) in Washington. KCII will be on call for that one starting at 6:30 p.m. for the Washington HyVee pregame show.
