A quarter of an inch of rain fell in Washington early Friday morning.

According to Accuweather, the precipitation was recorded between midnight and 3 a.m. At 2:43 a.m. a strong thunderstorm was located near Washington moving southeast at 25 miles per hour with rain, lightning and thunder. It was the first rain of the month for Washington according to the National Weather Service. Winfield and Wayland each recorded a tenth of an inch of rain. Mostly sunny skies are expected in Washington Saturday, with a chance for thunderstorms Sunday through Tuesday. Listen to KCII for weather updates.
