Hail, high winds, lightning, excessive rain, flash flooding, flooding and tornadoes in June caused some farms to have major damage and now low interest emergency loans are available.

Farm operators who suffered major physical losses from the storms that occurred between June 12 and 17 may be eligible. The U.S. Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency announced the loans are available for nine counties in Iowa including Muscatine, Cass, Emmet, Harrison, Linn, Marion, Mills, Page, and Taylor as the primary damaged area. Also farms in 31 contiguous counties in the designated disaster area may be eligible, including Iowa, Johnson, and Louisa Counties. Producers have eight months to apply for loans for physical losses which can be farm buildings, livestock, stored crops, and more. For more information click here.
