The night skies are shining bright over Columbus Junction this weekend at the Louisa County Fair.

This is the 125th anniversary of the fair, and they are celebrating the occasion with fireworks displays Friday through Sunday. The Louisa County Fair is welcome to anyone wanting to enjoy the festivities, with no fee to attend. Fair Board President Tony Humiston mentions a free attraction, “We had a donation given to us helping us out with it and the carnival this year is all free to ride. So you can come down and ride the carnival all day as long as it’s open and will cost you nothing.”

Louisa County Extension will be celebrating the history of 125 years of the fair at their “Blue Ribbon Reunion” event Friday night at the Youth Center building. Louisa County Extension Program Manager Kathy Vance says, “We have a lot of history that we’ve compiled and we hope that people bring their history and memories. We have a big memory wall where you can post up a memory. We’ll be tweeting out those memories after the fair is over and using them in the future. It’s pretty exciting to celebrate 125 years of the fair.”

Humiston is excited for the new goat barn that was converted from an old cattle barn this year, and the Clover Color Run is a new event that will take place on the race track this Sunday. The KCII Big Red Radio is broadcasting live from the Louisa County Fair as part of the KCII Summer Town Tour.
