From sports physicals to blood pressure checks, a mobile clinic will be providing free health care services this Saturday in Columbus Junction.

The University of Iowa Mobile Clinic has previously hosted their free health clinic at the Roundy Elementary School in Columbus Junction, but this summer they’ve moved their services to the Columbus Community Senior Center in order to gain greater attention and more visitors.

Columbus Community Senior Center Treasurer Polly Prior has been promoting this clinic, “In the month of June we had a good turn out. We’re hoping that this Saturday that we’ll have even a larger turn out down here because we’ve been doing a little bit more advertising, putting flyers out at all the critical places.”

Prior encourages those who can’t afford health care to come to the clinic, “A lot of these things that people may say, ‘Well I can’t afford to go to a doctor,’ or ‘I’ve got a high deductible.’ And this way, coming once a month, the University’s clinic they’re keeping records on the people that come and have check ups. If you were here this month and your cholesterol is a little high and you come back next month and it’s come down, then they’ll have a record of it and you can see how your health is going.”

The free mobile clinic will be taking place Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Columbus Community Senior Center.
