The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk softball team saw their season come to an end Wednesday night in the first round of the class 3A regional tournament, falling to the No. 6 ranked Solon Spartans by an 11-1 score.

Mid-Prairie got on the board first with Abby Tornow leading off the contest with a single, she advanced to third when Anna Vilovchik found her way on base through a Solon error that left her at second. Tornow scampered home on a wild pitch to make it 1-0 Mid-Prairie. The Spartans answered with a single run in the second when Taylor Moore doubled in a run. The game stayed even at one until the fourth when Solon exploded for seven runs on five hits, sending 11 batters to the plate in the frame. Leading 8-1, Solon scored three times in the sixth to finish out the shortened game win. Kayla West got the win in the circle for Solon, after her first inning trouble she allowed just four more base runners the rest of the night, striking out eight during her outing. Cassidy Rourke took the loss for Mid-Prairie, going five innings, giving up 10 hits, 11 runs, walking two and striking out two. Abby Tornow was two for three at the plate with a run scored to lead Mid-Prairie. With the loss the Golden Hawks finish the season at 12-24, Solon improves to 29-12, they will next be in action at the regional semifinal Friday in Solon against Prairie City Monroe who eliminated Chariton.
