The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk baseball team takes the diamond Saturday for the class 2A district 10 championship game against the No. 9 ranked Iowa City Regina Regals.

Mid-Prairie has fought through adversity to get to this round of the playoffs, winning 6-2 in the district semifinals over West Burlington in a game that was started on Tuesday but due to inclimate weather had to be finished on Wednesday. Mid-Prairie took a 2-0 lead into part two of that contest with the Falcons, gave up the lead on the third pitch of the restart and then rallied for four runs in the sixth to take back the lead and get the win. On the season the Golden Hawks are 16-14 and led by Jacob Leonard and his .370 average at the plate. Brad Tornow is 6-3 on the hill. In 47 innings of work he has a 1.79ERA.

Iowa City Regina enters tonight with a 25-7 overall record. The Regals are ranked No. 9 in the state in the latest poll from the Iowa Baseball Coaches Association. In the district semifinals Regina was a 12-3 winner over Van Buren Wednesday night. On the season the Regals are led by Blake Berns and his .385 average at the plate. On the mound Nick Brandt is 6-1 in 48 innings with a 1.32 ERA. Ryne Schooley has a 5-1 record in 44 innings with a 2.23 ERA.

These two teams met in a doubleheader on June 12th in Iowa City with the Regals earning a sweep by 5-0 and 10-4 scores.
