Henry County individuals have the opportunity to apply for grant funding from Henry County Tourism.

Henry County is giving a total amount of $2,500 to Henry County organizations in a pilot program to attract more visitors to Mount Pleasant hotels. Mount Pleasant Chamber Executive Vice President Kristi Ray explains these grants aren’t only eligible to those living in Mount Pleasant but to all of Henry County, “We know that Wayland and Salem and New London and some of our surrounding areas, they have wonderful festivals and they have great class reunions. And they just do a great job with their stuff. It’s going to benefit the whole county because this won’t just be for Mount Pleasant. If somebody in any place in our county is bringing people in, it just happens to be that the hotels are in Mount Pleasant.”

Organizations who are holding events or projects from August 1 to December 31 this year may apply for the grant. Applicants bringing visitors to Mount Pleasant for overnight stays are eligible. The deadline for applications is August 31. Ray hopes that the pilot program is successful and that it can continue next year.
