It’s a tough tournament trail for the Highland softball team in 2017.

After dispatching the Pekin Panthers in come from behind fashion Wednesday to open the postseason, the Huskies now hit the road to take on No. 9 Eddyville-Blakesburg in the regional seminfinal. In their 8-4 first round win over the Panthers, the Huskies fell behind 4-1 going into the bottom of the fourth before rallying for the win. Brylee Carolan had two hits and two RBI. Kelsey Hora added three hits and three runs. On the season, Highland is led by Hora and her .500 average at the plate. In the circle, Megan Hoenig is 11-2 with 112 innings pitched and a 2.31 ERA.

Eddyville-Blakesburg comes into the night ranked No. 9 in class 2A in the final poll from the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. The Rockets are 28-8 on the year. They got by Van Buren in the first round of the playoffs by a 5-1 score. On the season Eddyville-Blakesburg is led by Haegen Boyer and her .458 average at the plate. In the circle, Randie Richmond has a 16-5 overall record in 126 innings. She has a 1.22 ERA.
