The Iowa Mennonite School softball team finished the 2017 season Monday in the first round of the regional tournament falling to HLV 5-2.

. In a game heard on KCII, IMS struck first, taking a 2-0 lead in the second inning when Rachel and Sarah Miller drove in Mia Graber and Hannah Harris to score the games first runs. The Warriorettes answered with a pair of their own in the top of the third inning to knot the game at two. The Warriors would score single tallies in each of the fifth, sixth and seventh innings to build a late lead while IMS struggled to figure out reliever Haley Coats, who recorded the final nine outs of the win for HLV out of the bullpen, eight of them on strikeouts.

Iowa Mennonite was in the contest all night, despite being without two starters with senior Calli Shaw and junior Avery Blauvelt unavailable due to prior commitments. IMS was led on the night by Graber and Harris each with a run scored, Harris and Rachel Miller each had a hit while Rachel and Sarah Miller each had an RBI. With the loss IMS ends their season at 6-12. HLV advances to play North Tama in Wednesday’s regional quarterfinal round of the playoffs.
