Monday began with severe weather in the KCII listening area.

At 5:15 a.m. the severe thunderstorm warning was issued for southeast Washington County, as well as areas of Louisa, Henry, and Jefferson Counties. Hail one-inch in diameter was reported by a trained weather spotter near Richmond at 5 a.m. Wind gusts reached 48 miles per hour at the Washington Municipal Airport. During the morning storm, nearly 500 Alliant customers lost power in Louisa County. From midnight to 6 a.m. Washington received nearly 0.6 inches of rainfall. The warning for Washington County expired at 5:45 a.m.

Three members of the KCII Severe Weather Action Team brought up to the minute weather coverage; had the power gone off they’d still be on air with severe weather coverage with use of the KCII emergency back up generators. Listen to KCII for weather updates.
