The Keota City Council is inching closer to hiring a new city clerk.

The city council reviewed job applicants during a special meeting on July 7. Mayor pro tem Keith Conrad, current City Clerk Niki Osweiler, and council members Kathy Davis, Scott Westendorf, and Rod Hill were present. There were 10 applications submitted, two of which were incomplete, so the council reviewed eight total. The council chose four applicants to interview. A special meeting will be held Tuesday night to review the interviews and select to whom to offer the position. Osweiler submitted her letter of resignation effective July 14.
