Washington County Conservation is adding to the Kewash Nature Trail.
The board received a Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) grant of $342,537 for this upcoming project, which Conservation Director Steve Anderson describes, “The Washington County Conservation board has received a TAP grant for a project that we’re going to do that’s going to create a trail spur going on up to the Kirkwood Regional Education Center, and then also pave a piece of the Kewash until we run out of money.”
In order to receive this grant, the board resolved to make a maintenance and operations commitment of 20 years to the trail spur. The grant will be accessible in September, at which time the board will start the design and bid letting process. Anderson hopes construction will start in 2018.
