Lone Tree softball saw their season come to a close on Wednesday night when they fell to Belle Plaine 5-0.

The Lions hung tough with the South Iowa Cedar League champions but the Plainsmen pitching shut down any offensive production for Lone Tree. Belle Plaine jumped out to an early lead with a run in the first inning and held that 1-0 lead until the fourth when they broke the game open with three more tallies. They added one more in the sixth to shut the door on the Lion season. Abby Buckman did all she could to slow down the Plainsmen attack going six innings in the circle giving up eight hits on five runs and four strikeouts. Chloe Jacque had the only two hits for the Lions going 2-for-3 with a double.

Belle Plaine moves to 21-6 on the year and advances to the regional semifinal game against HLV on Friday. The Lions conclude their season at 4-17. Good news for Lone Tree is they will bring back a lot of experience for next year, only losing Kaycee Kane to graduation.
