A man charged with killing an Iowa City cab driver is in custody at the Washington County Jail.

The Iowa City Police Department issued an arrest warrant July 19 charging 41-year-old Curtis Cortez Jones with first degree murder in the June 27 death of Yellow Cab driver Ricky Lillie. The arrest warrant states that Jones entered Lillie’s cab and took a ride to the 500 block of Ernest Street. The warrant then states that Jones shot the victim in the head, killing Lillie, and Jones was captured on surveillance video leaving the location where Lillie was found. Jones was declared a person of interest in the homicide case on July 3.

Jones was arrested on June 30 in Mount Pleasant on charges of second degree theft and parole violation from Keota Police and is in custody at the Washington County Jail.
