There has been a delay in Managed Care Organizations paying reimbursements to some agencies across the state, which has impacted Washington County Public Health.

At the recent Washington County Board of Supervisors meeting Supervisor Jack Seward explained how deep the hole was $37,000 at the beginning of the quarter and is now at $3,600, “It’s turned out a little better than it looked at the beginning of the quarter, hopefully we’ll make some more progress on that front as the year progresses.” At the most recent Washington County Board of Health meeting, administrator Danielle Pettit-Majewski spoke of the state budget, “It was about $8.3 million that was taken from IDPH (Iowa Department of Public Health) and $7 million had specifics of where it was going to be cut. And there was an additional $1.3 million.” Fiscal administrator Peggy Wood said one thing that was cut was the local public health grant. Pettit-Majewski explained the funds have been cut from $62,314 this fiscal year, to $60,903 fiscal year 18. Wood added that’s the first cut that they know of.
