Water levels along the Iowa River and Mississippi River in Louisa County are rising and flood warnings have been issued.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the Mississippi River along the eastern edge of Louisa County and across the banks in Illinois. The warning includes Muscatine until this evening, at New Boston until Friday, and at Keithsburg it is in effect until Saturday morning.

Looking at the Iowa River, water levels have risen in Columbus Junction, Wapello and Oakville recently but they remain below flood stage. From 6 a.m. Wednesday to 6 a.m. Thursday the river at Wapello rose by more than a foot. If you come across a flooded road, turn around and find an alternate route – turn around, don’t drown.
