Drought conditions continued to increase in Iowa from last week to this week, with five counties now experiencing severe drought.

Wayne, Lucas, Clarke, and portions of Decatur and Appanoose Counties in southcentral Iowa are experiencing severe drought. Also, 34.74% of Iowa is in moderate drought and 64% is abnormally dry. The southwestern half of Washington County is abnormally dry. Iowa County is also abnormally dry mostly, while just a corner of northwestern Johnson County has abnormally dry conditions. About half of Keokuk County is in moderate drought while the other half is abnormally dry. Most of Henry and Jefferson Counties are in moderate drought. The northern half of Louisa County is in normal conditions, while the lower half is experiencing both moderate drought and abnormally dry conditions.
