A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for part of the KCII listening area Thursday evening.

Just before 10 p.m. the National Weather Service issued the warning for southwest Washington, southeastern Keokuk and northern Jefferson Counties. Hail reports in Washington ranged from one quarter of an inch to half an inch in diameter. There were also reports of more than two inches of rainfall within an hour near Packwood. Wind damage occurred with downed power lines near Lockridge and wind gusts reaching 56 miles per hour near Mt. Pleasant.

Three members of the KCII severe weather action team brought up to the minute live coverage of the severe thunderstorm warning. Had the power gone out, the coverage would have continued with our emergency back up generators. The one to count on for up to the minute severe weather coverage is AM and FM KCII.
