Sigourney (23-11) will look to keep flourishing in the underdog role tonight as they face off with Clarksville (28-2) in the class 1A state semifinals in Fort Dodge.

Sigourney has found their stride at the right time; winners of their last ten contests and coming off a huge first round win against Akron-Westfield 7-3. Kendall Streigle contained the highest scoring team in the state to only three runs on six hits. Look for small ball to be a big key for Sigourney as base runners may be hard to come by with Clarksville, as they hold the second lowest ERA in the state with a stifling 0.85. The Barthelman sisters continue to lead offensively with Summer carrying a .466 batting average and Autum with .458. Out of the four South Iowa Cedar League teams to qualify for state, Sigourney is the only team still alive for a championship.

Clarksville reached the semifinal round after a back and forth 9-8 win over Belle Plaine on Monday. Eighth grader Cheyenne Behrends leads a young and talented Indians team offensively. She has collected a .484 batting average and 34 RBI on the year. The Savage offense will have to go through freshman Kori Wedeking in the circle who has collected a stifling 0.65 ERA in 129 innings of work.

The chance to be one step closer to a coveted state title is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. tonight in Fort Dodge on Diamond 2 of the Harlan Rogers Sports Complex. Tune into KCII starting at 7 p.m. to hear all the live coverage.
