Soil conditions in southeast Iowa are continuing to be short on moisture.

This week, Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey stated, “Despite the periodic storms, crops across much of the state could use a good rain. This is especially true in Southeast Iowa, where topsoil moisture levels are rated 82 percent short or very short.” In our region, only 18% of topsoil has adequate moisture. Subsoil moisture in the area is rated at 41% adequate, 40% short and 19% very short. There’s a chance for thunderstorms and showers Sunday and Monday, listen to KCII for weather updates.
