The tornado that touched down in Iowa County Tuesday evening had a 4.6-mile path.

According to the National Weather Service, the EF1 twister made contact with the ground at 5:35 p.m. and was present for nearly 20 minutes. Its path stretched from near Q Avenue and 210th Street northeast of Williamsburg to 169th Street and S Avenue. The peak winds were 105 miles per hour and the maximum width of the tornado was 60 yards. Those strong winds caused damage to trees and crops, also two houses had damage to windows and siding, while one farm outbuilding lost part of it’s roof and another was partially destroyed. As the thunderstorms swept across eastern Iowa the KCII-listening area experienced hail, torrential rain, and lightning.
