Two mornings in a row the KCII Severe Weather Action Team responded to severe thunderstorm warnings in Washington County.

After a severe storm Monday morning that brought hail, heavy rain, and wind gusts that reached 48 miles per hour, a severe thunderstorm swept across the area Tuesday morning. At 5:40 a.m. a severe thunderstorm warning was issued for Washington, Johnson, Keokuk, Iowa, Jefferson, and northwestern Henry counties. The National Weather Service had the warning expire in Washington County at 6:30 a.m. During the storm, Washington received about a tenth of an inch of rain. Tree limbs fell in Wellman.

Three members of the KCII Severe Weather Action Team brought live coverage of the severe thunderstorms and had the power gone off, KCII would still be on air with our emergency back up generators. Listen to KCII for weather updates.
