While precipitation was well below normal for the month of June this year, the temperature was slightly higher.

According to the National Weather Service, June in Washington had an average temperature of 71.3 degrees, above the normal 70.5 degrees. The average maximum temperature for the sixth month of the year was 84.5 degrees, nearly three degrees above normal. The total precipitation last month was 1.56 inches, more than three inches below the normal 4.7 inches. So far this year precipitation is 2.5 inches below normal.

July is off to a cooler than normal start with an average temperature of 72.4 degrees the first five days, below the normal of 74.1 degrees. Temperatures are expected to have highs in the upper 80s throughout the weekend. Listen to KCII for weather updates.
