The Demon (17-15) baseball team will kick off their postseason run tonight when they host Williamsburg (8-28) in the first round of the class 3A districts.

Washington will look to take advantage of a clean slate and erase a four game losing skid to close out the regular season. When these two teams matched up earlier in the season it was all Demons as they dominated in an 11-1 win in five innings. Collin Zear will be on the bump for the Demons, who threw one of his best games of the year in that meeting against the Raiders back in June finishing the night with nine strikeouts and given up just three hits in five innings of work. Zear has posted a 2.72 ERA in 38 innings pitched on the season. The postseason run will have to start with their veterans, as all five Demons with a .300 plus BA are seniors.

If the Demon offense can duplicate their success from their last meeting they will have to go through the Radiers ace Zach Steckly, posting a 3.23 ERA in 39 innings of work. Cavin Malloy is a dangerous hitter at the plate with a .322 BA and 14 RBI on the year.

The opportunity to extend the 2017 campaign gets started at 7 p.m. tonight at Washington High School. You can hear all the coverage on KCII starting at 6:30 p.m. with the Washington HyVee pregame show.
