A Wellman man is facing multiple charges after being involved in a road rage incident in Iowa City.

According to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department around 2 a.m. on July 1, behind the wheel of his vehicle 24-year-old Jordan Yoder chased the victim’s vehicle at high rates of speed on Highway 6 and American Legion Road, east of Iowa City. Yoder rammed the rear of the victim’s vehicle twice, and he drove parallel to the victim and shouted, “I am gonna kill you.” The other vehicle fled from the area, and witnesses observed Yoder swerving from lane to lane on Highway 6. Yoder then lost control of his vehicle and struck a utility pole before coming to a stop near the intersection of American Legion Road and Arlington Drive. Yoder was transported to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics to receive treatment for severe injuries. A passenger in Yoder’s vehicle was also injured. A toxicology report indicated Yoder’s blood alcohol level to be .237. Charges were filed against Yoder on July 17 of assault with intent to inflict serious injury and operating while under the influence.
