The Lone Tree Lions baseball team forced a late rally to give Durant all they could handle but the Wildcats hung on for the 6-5 win in the district semifinals.

Early on, it was all Wildcats as they scored in each of the first four innings to jump out to a quick 6-0 lead. Lone Tree would not let their season end without a fight, as they busted out for five runs in the fifth frame to cut the deficit to 6-5. The Wildcats then turned the ball over to their ace Reece Bird who shutdown the Lions in the last two innings to extend their winning streak to eight games and advance to the district final. The Wildcats knocked out eight hits on three walks to contribute to their scoring.

With the win Durant moves to 22-7 on the year and will play Lisbon tomorrow in the class 1A district final game. Lone Tree finishes the season 16-11 and five seniors that were a big part of the Lions success concluded their high school career. All seniors of Jovonte Squiers, Dawson Swailes, Sam Fuhrmeister, Michael Schmidt, and Ross Swinton batted over .300 and Swinton and Fuhrmeister made for a dangerous one-two punch on the mound.
