The YMCA of Washington County is looking to build a new facility in Washington in three phases and was presented $1,000,000 this week.

Co-chair of the project Rachel Nicola and Dave Stoufer gave a founding gift of $500,000, as did co-chair Ed Weeks. The first phase of the project is $9 million and so far $2,658,372 has been raised. The current goal is to raise $5 million and have the rest raised through grant opportunities. Phase one will include weight rooms, a full basketball court with spectator seating, locker rooms, a walking track and meeting space. A full natatorium with six-lane pool will be added in phase two for an additional $3.5 million. To see a rendering of the proposed building that will be on West 5th Street click here.
