The volleyball season kicked off last night and WACO hosted a tournament that welcomed area schools Columbus Community and Sigourney.

In the eight-team tournament WACO did the best of the area schools going 1-2 and placing third in pool A. The Warriors defeated the Wildcats in straight sets (21-14, 21-16) but then fell to Van Buren and Centerville.

After falling to WACO, the Wildcats were also tripped up by Van Buren and Centerville to finish 0-3 in pool play.

Sigourney competed in pool B where they went 0-3 falling to Wapello, Pekin, and West Burlington in straight sets to finish fourth. The top team in each division played for the championship where Wapello claimed the title.

The Warriors will next be in action August 31st hosting Danville, Columbus will travel to Wapello next Tuesday, and Sigourney will travel to Pekin the same day.
