Over 11,000 people have visited the Steele Family Aquatic Center in Washington this summer.

The facility is managed by the YMCA and interim CEO Amy Schulte says it’s been a great summer with the exception of a few unseasonably cool days around Independence Day. The outdoor city pool opened for the season during Memorial Day weekend and the last day it will be open is August 26th. Attendance included 733 in May, 5,734 in June, and 4,974 in July. In addition, 140 kids took group swimming lessons and 98 were enrolled in private lessons. A summer swim team was also offered with 24 participants. After the pool closes for the season, the annual Dog Paddle will be held Sunday, August 27th. This is a fundraiser for PAWS and More where people can bring their dogs to swim in the pool before it is drained for $5 and all proceeds go to the shelter.
