The City of Winfield has released the new conceptual design of their upcoming Rick Rodgers Community Pool.

The city chose Paddock Enterprises to design the new facility, which will be in the same location as the pool formerly owned by the Twin Lakes Country Club. Winfield Deputy City Clerk Lisa Rees says, “We had a conceptual design before and it just was not accepted by the public, it didn’t wow them. So we kind of went back to the drawing board and kind of listened to the public, and what were they saying and what did they like and what didn’t they like. So when we released this one it was fun because people were excited about it. So it’s very exciting to have people like your design, knowing that we’re doing something that everybody’s going to be happy with.”

The city has so far raised $658,000 of the $1.5 million price tag, and plan to get to $750,000 before they apply for a Community Attraction and Tourism (CAT) grant in October. The grant would fund 18% of the budget. The city is sending letters requesting donations from area residents, and is planning a haunted house fundraiser this October. They plan on breaking ground sometime in the fall or winter with completion for summer 2018.
