Free English classes will be held this fall at the Kirkwood Washington Regional Center.

The classes are geared toward people in the community learning English as a second language. Beginning in September classes will be held Tuesday and Thurdsay evenings from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Dr. Monie Hayes says registration will be held this Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Those who sign up will get to visit a classroom, meet an instructor, and provide some background information, like what level of education they’ve completed.

Hayes says many people enroll in the course for professional reasons, to advance at work, or personal reasons, to better help their children with schoolwork, “We get a number of Spanish speakers, we’ve also had students from China and Vietnam. And we’ve had a number of students from eastern Europe – Romania, Yugoslavia. I think, it’s always interesting meet people with various backgrounds and learn about them, and learn from them, and learn with them.”

The classes will run from September 5th to October 19th, and a second session will be held October 31st to December 21st.
