Lone Tree will kick off their season tonight on the road making a stop at Central City.

Last year these two teams matched up in the season opener with the Lions dominating in a 63-22 victory. The win paved the way to an impressive 8-1 record and just missed out on the playoffs. Now in year number two of 8-man football the Lions will have to lean on experience upfront with a lot of their skills positions graduating. Wesley Hotz and Casey Shalla return on the line after a year where they were the catalysts to the sixth-best rushing attack in 8-man. Brock Smith will lead the defense, managing 54 tackles last fall.

Central City is coming off of a season where they went 3-7, but bring back an experienced bunch for 2017. The Lion defense will have to tame the one-two punch of Wade McKinney and Michael Walker, combining for over 1,000 yards on the ground and 14 touchdowns last season. Trey Holub is a player to watch on defense, racking up 55 tackles in 2016.

The game gets started at 7 p.m. tonight at Central City High School.
