The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk football team is set to kickoff the season tomorrow night. Special teams will be a key for Mid-Prairie in 2017.

Terrhyn Jacoby returns to the Mid-Prairie kicking game in 2017 after a year that saw him go 3/3 in field goal attempts with a long of 40 yards. He finished 95% in PATs going 36 of 38 for the season. Jacoby also handled the majority of the punting duties for the Golden Hawks in 2016, kicking 25 times for a 34 yard average and 58 yard long. Of his 53 kickoffs a season ago 29 of them ended with touchbacks.

In the return game Mid-Prairie brings back their two leading ball carriers from a year ago in Jacoby and Keaton Duwa. Jacoby finished 2016 with a 14 yard average per punt return while Duwa had a 31 yard average per kickoff return. Jacoby also returned 13 kickoffs for a 15 yard average last season. The Golden Hawks did not score a special teams touchdown in 2016, a stat they will look to change in 2017.

Mid-Prairie opens their season Friday night when they travel to Louisa-Muscatine. You can catch all of the action on AM 1380, FM 102.5 KCII and KCIIradio.com beginning with the Washington HyVee pregame show at 6:30 and kickoff at 7PM.
