A Mount Pleasant man has been arrested after being found fraudulently cashing checks and withdrawing funds of over $15,000 at several locations.

According to the Mount Pleasant Police Department they received a fraud report on Monday from Five Star Community Credit Union and Community First Credit Union. An investigation revealed that 27-year-old Edward Williams of Mount Pleasant was illegally cashing checks and money grams. It was also determined that Williams was conspiring with several others to obtain the money. Williams was arrested Tuesday and charged with ongoing criminal conduct, first-degree theft, and conspiracy to commit a non-forcible felony. He was transported to the Henry County Jail pending arraignment. More charges and arrests are pending.
