After a successful 2016 season for Lone Tree going 8-1, the Lions will look to replicate the success in their second year in 8-man football with new faces leading the charge.

In his first year as head coach for the Lions, Aaron Bohr will look to fill five positions on the offensive side. The Lions will have to reload at the skills positions, graduating Trey Pierson as the quarterback throwing for 684 yards, leading rusher in Drake Hotz with 945 yards, and multi-sport star Jovonte Squiers who led the team with 265 yards receiving. Brock Smith will carry the load on the outside, managing nine catches for 172 yards and a pair of touchdowns a year ago. The offense will have to lean on some experience upfront with Wesley Hotz and Casey Shalla returning on the line. On the defensive side, Smith is the leading returning tackler with 54.

The Lions open up the 2017 campaign hosting Central City on Friday night.
