In a game that is always filled with anticipation the Pekin football team holds area bragging rights defeating Sigourney-Keota 37-13 on Friday in the Backyard Brawl.

Turnovers were a Cobra killer in this one as they coughed up the ball three times in the first half that led to three Panther touchdowns. Trailing 28-7 at the break, the Cobras showed some promise marching down the field for a score on the first possession after halftime to cut the lead to 28-14. Pekin managed a safety and tallied one more touchdown that closed the door on the Cobras. Monico Requena and Torell Washington rushed for over 100 yards for the Panthers and a pair of scores.

With the win the Panthers improve to 2-0 as the Cobras start up 0-1. Sigourney-Keota will look to rebound on Friday night traveling to Eddyville-Blakesburg.
