The ballots are in from Tuesday night’s special election and Iowa State House District 82 has a new representative.

Democrat Phil Miller was voted as the new representative with 4,021 votes. Republican Travis Harris came in second with 3,324 votes. The district comprises Davis, Van Buren, and part of Jefferson Counties. The seat was left vacant by Curt Hanson (D) who passed away in June. The new representative will fill the rest of the term, which ends 2018.
