Get a bird’s eye view of Washington by enrolling in Leadership Washington.

The class meets the second Wednesday of each month and gives participants a deeper look at Washington from economic and agricultural points of view to education and industry. The nine-session class begins in September and there are fewer than 10 spots available on the roster. The goal of the series is to expose participants to variety of areas of the community”so that you can be a better leader and community member” and is hosted by the Washington Chamber of Commerce. 2017 – 2018 Class Schedule
Sept. 13 Orientation and City History Day– This will be your opportunity to learn about the upcoming class sessions and meet your class members. Enjoy lunch with the class, and take off for a tour around the city to learn about the history of Washington. 9am-5pm
 
Oct. 11 Economic Development and Finance Day – Tour the Washington Municipal Airport and the community, talk with WEDG/Chamber/Main Street, and learn about the local financial system. 8-5pm
 
Nov. 8 Education Day – Visit local education and support facilities as well as discuss today’s education issues with administration and staff. Don’t forget about extra curricular activities; we will also take a look at these facilities. A class picture will be taken this day.8-5pm
 
Dec. 13 Health & Fitness Day – Explore the Washington County Hospital & Clinics and get a first hand look at Washington’s Ambulance Service, Community Y, and Washington’s recreational facilities. 8-5pm
 
Jan. 10 Business, Industry Day and Media Day – Learn about Washington’s businesses and industries; including a tour of a Washington manufacturing business.  In addition, you will see behind the scenes at the Washington Evening Journal and KCII Radio.8-5pm
 
Feb. 14 City and County Government Day – Experience the ins and outs ofWashington’s City & County Governance. You will get an insider look at the County Jail, Safety Center, Police Station, County Courthouse and City Hall and Fire Department. 8-5pm
 
March 14 Agriculture Day – Tour area farming operations and learn how progressive and innovative our  agricultural community is. 8-5pm
 
April 11 County History Day – Traditionally, one of the highlights of the year. You will spend the day with Mike Zahs touring Washington County. You will visit old towns, Indian burial mounds and have an Amish meal.  8-5pm
 
May 9 Graduation – You will receive your class photo, certificate of completion and hear from a distinguished speaker over celebratory hors d’oeuvres and drinks; 4-6pm, location TBA.
