After experiencing success a year ago the Sigourney cross-country team is back for more bringing a nucleus of returners with them.

On the boys’ side the Savages seek their third straight South Iowa Cedar League title. Senior Tommy Stout is the top returner from last year placing ninth in the conference meet with a time of 17:41.9. Junior Tristan Bell will look to build off of his 14th place in the conference meet and sophomore Paul Montgomery returns after a 17th place finish in 2016.

For the girls’ the Savages are led by multi-sport standout Summer Barthelman. Last season she earned all-conference honors by recording the fourth fastest time at the conference meet with a time of 21:47.4. In the state-qualifying meet the junior suffered an injury that hindered her chances for a state appearance.

Sigourney’s season gets started tomorrow when they travel to Marshalltown Community College.
