While there was rain across southeast Iowa recently, topsoil and subsoil moisture levels are still low.

According to the weekly report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, southeast Iowa’s topsoil moisture is rated at 68% very short, 24% short, and only eight percent adequate. Subsoil moisture in the region is rated at 63% very short, 29% short, and eight percent adequate. From the last report to this report, southeast Iowa has grown drier by nine percent for topsoil moisture, and 10% for subsoil.
