Two-thirds of Iowa’s soybeans are setting pods, five days behind last year but equal to average according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Currently the state’s soybean crop is rated at nine percent excellent, 50% good, 29% fair, and 12% poor to very poor. In southeast Iowa 80% of soybeans are blooming, behind the five-year average of 91%. And while two-thirds of the state’s crop is setting pods, only half of southeast Iowa’s soybeans are setting pods, behind the five-year average of 67%.
