Soon the Washington public pool will be drained for the season, but not before dog have a chance to go for a swim.

The 11th annual dog paddle will be held Sunday at the Steele Family Aquatic Center. Dogs of any breed are welcome, from traditional big water dogs like golden retrievers to small chihuahuas. Director of PAWS and More Amber Talbot invites the public to bring their four-legged friends for $5 and proceeds will go to the shelter. The event is in partnership with the dog park and is the second year benefiting PAWS and More. Proof of rabies vaccine and only altered dogs are allowed for safety reasons. The reduced-cost microchips will be available for $20 per dog. Talbot adds a few of the dogs at the shelter will also be able to take part in the fun. The dog paddle runs from 1-4 p.m. this Sunday. The shelter will also be open for families to visit canines and felines waiting for their forever homes.

UPDATE: The pool is now closed to swimmers for the season.
