The Washington School District summer lunch program came to an end Friday and attendance was high throughout the season.

The program was held at Lincoln and Stewart Elementary in June, July, and the first two weeks of August. Curriculum Director Veta Thode said each building averaged about 180 meals each day in June and 188 per day in July. In addition, she said transportation numbers increased this summer, with 1433 kids using the bus to or from the YMCA to the lunch centers throughout the summer plus 252 adults. There are bus routes across Washington and from Brighton so students have access to the free lunch program. The meals cost $3.50 per adult and are available free of charge for anyone between the ages of one and 18.
