In a shootout the Twin Cedars football team was able to hang on to defeat WACO in a wild 8-man contest 60-56 on Friday night.

In the high scoring affair it was the Warriors that struck first with a 55-yard touchdown run by Calvin Battle. The senior went right back to work the next series  running in  a score from 32 yards out that put WACO ahead 14-0 in the first quarter. After both teams traded blows for much of the first half Elijah McGhoan scored from 10 yards out to take WACO into the break up 34-28. After a few Saber scores the Warriors found themselves down 56-52 in the fourth quarter when McGhoan delivered on a four-yard touchdown run. The lead was short-lived however; as the Sabers delivered the final blow late in the game to hold on to the 60-56 win. Battle had a big night for WACO carrying the rock 17 times for 166 yards and four scores. McGhoan finished the night with 124 yards on the ground and two touchdowns.

With the loss WACO drops to 0-2 on the year as Twin Cedars improves to 1-0. WACO gets back on the field Friday when they host Tri-County.
