Area girls’ cross country teams competed in Keota on Tuesday and Lone Tree took home the title.

The Lions won the meet at Lagos Acres Golf Course with a total of 42 points. Macie Bopp led the Lion attack placing second overall with a time of 22:06. Cheyenne Shaw of North Mahaska won the event with a time of 20:48. Other contributors for Lone Tree was Sydney Alt placing seventh, Natalie Patterson in eighth, Maddie Jacque 14th, and Emily Feldman 19th.

Highland also competed in the event placing second with 45 points. Taylor Sublette did her part placing third overall and Zoe Mahler was right behind in fourth. Madison Thomann managed fifth and Fiona Mahler placed 15th to round out the Highland scoring.

Sigourney placed fourth at the meet with a time of 58 points. Summer Barthelman headlined the action placing sixth for the Savages. Lainey Graff was also in the top 20 and received a medal for 18th place.

Keota and Columbus Community also participated in the event but did not have enough competitors for team scoring. The Wildcats’ Janessa Carpenter was 11th and Keota’s Laurie Amos was 16th.
