On Thursday area teams competed in the pool play for the annual Southeast Iowa Super Conference volleyball tournament.

There were four locations for pool play where the 18 teams divided up. Winfield-Mt. Union hosted three other teams in a round robin format. The Wolves beat WACO 21-16 and 21-8 but then fell to New London and Central Lee. WACO went 0-3 on the night and therefore the top two teams of New London and Central Lee advance to the finals on Saturday at Southeast Community College.

Columbus Community was at West Burlington where they beat Louisa-Muscatine but then fell to Notre Dame, Pekin, and the host Falcons. West Burlington and Pekin prevailed out of that pool.

Highland, IMS, and Lone Tree all traveled to Wapello. Highland and IMS posted records of 2-2 while the Lions lost their four contests. Danville and the Indians advanced to the finals.

Cardinal was the final location where Holy Trinity and Van Buren advanced against Mediapolis and the Comets.
